Konover Construction
The Company
The Challenge
Mike Capazzi, the Corporate Safety Director, is responsible for ensuring that his 89 Site Supervisors and Project Managers receive the proper safety training. Prior to PureSafety, Konover Construction relied on standard classroom training, held either after 5:00 or on weekends, in a variety of locations. This methodology created many problems:
The Solution
While Mike was attending a construction meeting, he happened to talk to an insurance vendor who had a PureSafety training CD. Mike was impressed with the animation and decided to do a little research relating to online training. He soon found out that OSHA recognizes online training and aggressively pursued this alternate (and simpler) method of training Konover Site Supervisors and Project Managers. Between personal laptops (or home computer) and the trailer computer, employees had easy access to their assigned courses.
The Results
Since August 2004, Konover Construction has enjoyed many benefits as a result of implementing the PureSafety online training solution.
Impressive cost savings
Supervisors and Project Managers do not have to leave their jobs and sites never need to be closed down, resulting in an estimated savings of over $2,000 a month.
Training flexibility that the construction industry requires
Employees do not have to take the entire course at one time. If they need to get back to work, they simply bookmark the section, and return to the exact spot when time allows.
Excellent compliance and course completion
Employees love the fact that they can take courses on their own time, day, night or weekend. Employees enjoy the interactive nature of the courses and compliance is close to 100%.
Substantial time savings
Supervisors and Project Managers no longer have to travel to a training site after hours or on weekends. Mike no longer has to spend countless hours coordinating classes, preparing for classes and manually tracking course completion.
Easy documentation
Once a week, Mike runs a training report and sends it to the Senior Vice President of Operations, who likes to stay informed relative to who has been trained and on what subject. Previously, obtaining this information would have been a serious manual effort.
