PureSafety Donates Online Safety Training to Whirlpool® Building Blocks Event in Atlanta
NASHVILLE, Tenn., - Sept. 2, 2009 - For the fourth consecutive year, Nashville-based PureSafety will donate free online safety training for the volunteers of the 2009 Whirlpool® Building Blocks program. Through the partnership of Whirlpool and Habitat for Humanity, 250 volunteers will gather in Atlanta, Ga. on Aug. 31 to build eight new energy efficient homes in one week.
The Whirlpool® Building Blocks program was created to raise awareness of the affordable housing crisis and to support Habitat's mission to eliminate substandard housing. PureSafety has donated free training and volunteers to the program since 2006.
"As a purpose-driven organization, we are committed on a corporate level and as individuals, to doing more to improve our communities and help those in need," said Tom Gaudreau, PureSafety's vice president of marketing. "PureSafety is proud to once again partner with Whirlpool Building Blocks to ensure the safety of its volunteers and help make a difference in the lives of some deserving Atlanta families."
Each year, the Whirlpool Building Blocks program recognizes an outstanding Habitat for Humanity affiliate and its relationship with its local community by holding a week-long build. From start to finish, the volunteers will raise roofs, landscape, paint, and perform all other tasks to build the homes in just one week.
"As we head into our fourth year, the Whirlpool® Building Blocks program continues to advocate for affordable housing and help partner families secure a brighter future," said Wes Pringle, vice president of brand business teams, Whirlpool Corporation. "Additionally, we have added more green elements and are utilizing energy-efficient construction techniques and materials to reduce the footprint of the build and help maintain low utility bills for the families. In doing so, it's our hope that we can help secure a more environmentally friendly future as well."
The Whirlpool® Building Blocks volunteers in Atlanta will take PureSafety courses covering Hand and Power Tool Safety, Ladder Safety and Preventing Back Injuries. All volunteers will have the opportunity to complete their assigned safety training via the Internet from the comfort of their own home or office, and Whirlpool Building Blocks managers can track and manage the completion of the training the same way.
The 2009 Whirlpool Building Blocks will take place in The Avery neighborhood in Atlanta, the new housing development in Clayton County that showcases the unique collaboration between Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity.
