Customers Will Benefit from Addition of Employee Safety, Workers' Compensation and Employee Disability Management Tools NASHVILLE, TN, October 17, 2006 – PureSafety, the leading provider of online safety training and risk management solutions, today announced the acquisition of PerDatum, Inc., a leading provider of software for employee safety, workers’ compensation and employee disability management, located in Columbus, Ohio. PureSafety acquired PerDatum and its Prognos software application as part of its ongoing strategic initiative to build a comprehensive suite of solutions that will meet a broader range of safety and risk management needs in today’s marketplace. In announcing the acquisition, William A. Grana, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of PureSafety, noted that combining the two companies’ complementary product lines creates an industry-leading suite of technology-based tools and services. “By acquiring PerDatum, PureSafety has taken a major leap forward in augmenting and enhancing the total safety and risk management product and service offering we provide. This addition gives our customers and prospects greater flexibility in tailoring risk management solutions to their specific needs,” he said. According to Grana, Prognos offers a critical benchmarking capability that is particularly noteworthy, because it enables customers to more effectively measure performance in the areas of workers’ compensation claims and case management. Grana added that PerDatum’s personnel, who will continue to work out of the Columbus facility, also enhance PureSafety’s offerings. “The principals of PerDatum, all of whom will assume leadership roles with PureSafety, bring a wealth of knowledge developed over the last 13 years in helping a wide range of companies to better manage employee safety, workers’ compensation, and disability programs,” he said. Mark S. Tochtenhagen, co-founder and former President of PerDatum, Inc., explained that PerDatum’s service expertise and software capabilities were honed in Ohio, which has very complex procedures concerning workers’ compensation and information sharing. “This will be especially valuable in assisting PureSafety customers and prospects with more complicated risk management needs,” he said. Describing the acquisition as mutually beneficial, Tochtenhagen went on to point out that, “PureSafety’s leadership position in the online safety training market, its marketing and sales strengths, and its technology resources will facilitate greater market penetration and product enhancement for Prognos.” Founded in 1999, PureSafety’s mission is “to improve workplace health, safety and organizational performance by using technology to deliver customized training and risk management solutions that consistently exceed our customers’ expectations.” Placing the PerDatum acquisition in the context of that mission, Grana emphasized that PureSafety plans to continue broadening its suite of solutions, both through internal development and further acquisitions. “We help customers protect their people and preserve their profits — the Prognos modules extend our ability to do that in the area of incident reporting, investigation and response. The workers’ compensation and disability modules will greatly benefit employers that self-administer claims, and also open up new insurance service provider markets like managed care organizations and workers’ compensation third party administrators. Our long-term goal is to offer industry-leading solutions in every area where we can have a positive impact on our customers’ employee safety, productivity, and bottom line,” he said.
