![]() The History of PureSafety
In 1998, Thompson Machinery Commerce Corporation, a Tennessee-based heavy equipment dealer, suffered the first and only on-the-job fatality in its 54-year history. Thompson had formal safety programs and dedicated safety resources, but senior management, devastated by the accident, asked, ‘‘Can we do more to improve our safety programs and prevent another tragedy? Can we create a more systematic method of delivering, tracking and managing our safety training programs using the Internet and other emerging technologies? Is there a way to better document our training efforts for OSHA and other regulatory agencies?’’ Out of tragedy, PureSafety was born. What started as an internal training management tool for Thompson and other heavy equipment dealers soon demonstrated its value in many industries. In April 1999, PureSafety became an independent company and has been expanding its presence in the industry ever since. PureSafety has achieved much in its first decade, including dynamic growth that earned it a spot in the prestigious Inc. 500, and numerous awards for innovation and business excellence. But the achievements we’re most proud of are the ones that directly benefit the organizations we serve. For example, PureSafety was the first online safety training company to deliver an OnDemand solution, giving individuals and businesses the convenience of purchasing training on a per-assignment basis using a credit card or promotional code. After initially using digitized videos from third-party providers, we went on to develop the industry’s largest and highest quality library of interactive, engaging Flash-based courses covering all aspects of Environmental, Health and Safety, Human Resources compliance, and more. Along the way, we assembled one of the industry’s most experienced Content Development Teams; in addition to developing our 450+ courses, these experts have helped our clients create thousands of new industry and organization-specific courses. In October 2006, PureSafety acquired PerDatum, Inc., a leading provider of software solutions for managing incident reporting and investigation, workers’ compensation, disability and absence programs. The acquisition was a major step in PureSafety’s ongoing commitment to meet a broader range of compliance, workflow, process, and analytic needs and provide the industry’s most comprehensive suite of powerful, easy-to-use online safety training and risk management software solutions. The most recent addition to our total solution is our revolutionary Content Editing System, a powerful, web-based course editing and creation tool that allows PureSafety customers to efficiently customize, manage and deploy our world-class Flash-based courses in a fraction of the time required by traditional development environments. Today, PureSafety’s dedicated team of over 100 employees serves the safety training and risk management software needs of thousands of organizations in over 20 major industries. We have customers in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., as well as numerous other countries. Looking ahead, you can count on PureSafety to continue to expand and improve its solutions and services to keep up with ever-changing safety and risk management needs and best practices. But our purpose and passion will remain constant. Our vision, and commitment, is to do more, every day, to empower the real heroes of the organizations we serve: professionals like you. |
